Lazuli 5* is located about an hour’s drive from Marsa Alam Airport, right on the beachfront. There’s no infrastructure outside the hotel at all. On site, there’s a pharmacy with good prices.
Grounds: compact — you don’t need to walk far — and very green. There are two large pools with sea views, including a kids’ section and a jacuzzi. One pool is heated in winter. There’s a swim-up bar, and aqua aerobics takes place around lunchtime. For children, there’s a separate area at the front of the hotel: a playground, kids’ club, a splash pool with a tipping bucket, and a pool with three slides. There’s also a bar there. The slides are great for both kids and adults, and they run on a clear schedule: 10:00–13:00 and 15:00–17:00.
Rooms: very spacious at 48 sqm. They feel new and clearly refurbished, but in my opinion they’re not particularly modern. Tiled floors, clean linen, and comfortable mattresses and pillows. The minibar is empty; the safe is free of charge.
Beach: wide and sandy, with new sun loungers and straw parasols. The sea is gorgeous — a bright turquoise colour. Entry from the shore is only in water shoes, but it’s comfortable for children. There’s a fixed pier; halfway along there’s access into the water, with reefs and different fish. The reef is alive and beautiful — and dolphins came in during the morning.
There are several bars; alcohol is standard. There’s a wide selection of cocktails, and they’re tasty.
Entertainment is available but not pushy: aqua aerobics, stretching, yoga, Zumba, boccia, and volleyball. In the evening there’s a 30-minute mini-disco, followed by a show, and then a disco in the lobby until around midnight.
Food is varied and always fresh. Desserts and fruit are the highlight — the selection is huge and genuinely delicious. If needed, the chef can prepare something specific for children.
Guests: mostly Europeans — mainly Germans and Poles, typically older guests or families with children.
